SANS Institute Courses on Quantum Security & Post-Quantum Cryptography
Instructor-led cybersecurity training developed and delivered by Applied Quantum, through the SANS Institute – the global leader in cybersecurity education.
About This Course Series
SANS Institute is the world’s largest and most trusted provider of cybersecurity training, certifications, and research. With a track record spanning more than three decades, SANS courses are developed and taught by real-world practitioners and recognized as the gold standard across the industry.
Applied Quantum is the developer and instructor for SANS courses on quantum security and post-quantum cryptography (PQC). These courses draw on Applied Quantum’s deep expertise in quantum risk, cryptographic migration strategy, and enterprise-scale PQC readiness – combining hands-on technical depth with practical, business-aligned frameworks.
Together, this series gives security professionals – from the boardroom to the engineering team – the knowledge, tools, and confidence to lead the transition to a quantum-safe future.
Course Formats
The series includes courses at different levels to match different roles and depth requirements:
Executive Courses (1 Day)
Designed for CISOs, security directors, and senior leaders who need to understand the strategic, regulatory, and business dimensions of quantum risk – without getting lost in the physics. These courses focus on threat timelines, compliance requirements, migration roadmaps, cost models, and boardroom communication. They include hands-on exercises tailored to executive decision-making.
Technical Courses (5 Days)
Built for security architects, cryptography engineers, PKI/TLS/VPN specialists, and hands-on practitioners who will design, test, and implement post-quantum cryptographic solutions. These courses go deep into algorithms, protocol-level changes, cryptographic discovery, CBOM development, migration engineering, and crypto-agility architecture. They include extensive hands-on labs in realistic environments.
What the Courses Cover
While each course has its own syllabus and target audience, the series as a whole addresses:
- Quantum threat assessment: understanding when and how cryptographically relevant quantum computers will impact current encryption, and what that means for data being protected today.
- Harvest Now, Decrypt Later (HNDL) risk: identifying which encrypted assets are already exposed and how to prioritize response.
- Post-quantum cryptography standards: NIST PQC algorithms, CNSA 2.0, EU mandates, and the evolving global regulatory landscape.
- Cryptographic discovery and inventory: mapping cryptographic dependencies across applications, infrastructure, vendors, and third parties.
- Migration planning and execution: building phased, funded, and governed quantum-safe migration programs that align with business realities.
- Crypto-agility architecture: designing systems that can adapt to future cryptographic changes without repeating a full migration cycle.
- Executive communication: translating quantum risk into business language, metrics, and KPIs that drive action at the board level.
Who Should Attend
- Executive courses: CISOs, CIOs, CTOs, security directors, GRC and compliance leaders, and senior technology executives responsible for enterprise risk and security strategy.
- Technical courses: Security architects, enterprise architects, cryptography and PKI engineers, network security specialists, identity and key management professionals, and application security leads.
Certification & CPEs
SANS courses award Continuing Professional Education (CPE) credits upon completion. Select courses also align with GIAC certifications — the industry-recognized standard for validating cybersecurity skills.
